It is
very much important for Armenia to join Eurasian Economic Union within its main
borders, the known Russian analyst, Sergey Markedonov, told ArmInfo
correspondent.
"We have to understand that the October meeting
of Vladimir Putin with Nursultan Nazarbayev, Serzh Sargsyan and Aleksandr
Lukashenko will be extremely complicated, taking into consideration the Kazakh
president's special position regarding the Eurasian aspirations of Yerevan. In
this context, the forthcoming membership of Armenia in the Eurasian Economic
Union should happen without Nagornyy Karabakh, especially taking into account
the unwillingness of Yerevan to set a customs point between the territories of
Armenia and Nagorny Karabakh. In general, there are numerous difficulties and intrigues in this
process", - Markedonov emphasized.
The analyst is confident that only the economic ideas
are not enough for Yerevan when making decisions in this sphere, taking into
consideration the Karabakh conflict and the shut down border by Ankara. It is
easy to account that against the background of worsening of the Russia-West
relations, any attempt to defrost the Karabakh conflict may lead to lack of
coordination in the actions of the USA, Russia and France. He thinks that the
process of the Karabakh conflict settlement may turn into a hostage of a global
political crisis around Ukraine.
