Immediately after the first European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan started intensively destabilizing the situation on the Armenian- Azerbaijani border and along the Line of Contact of the Karabakh-Azerbaijan troops, the Defense Ministry of Armenia says in a statement provided to ArmInfo.
According to the statement, the adversary has violated the ceasefire overnight and keeps breaching it today, on August 12, using weapons of various calibers, including 60mm and 82mm mortars. "The enemy launched 109 shells at the Armenian positions from 82mm mortars alone," the ministry says in the statement. In addition, the adversary made two sabotage attempts overnight.
"Armenia has repeatedly said that such actions of the adversary are self-deception fraught with unpredictable consequences for the Azerbaijani army. The Defense Minister once again stressed the importance of the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, observation of the ceasefire and confidence-building measures," the Ministry says in the statement and recalls the need to start international inquiry into incidents in the Karabakh conflict zone.
