tbilisi.. Official Tbilisi blames Russia for new wave of mass violation of human rights and, in this context, points to another campaign of persecution of Georgian nationals - Georgian Foreign Ministry stressed in a statement on Thursday, June 14.
"Another serious wave of mass violation of human rights has been launched in the Russian Federation. Houses and offices of the opposition members have been searched; there have been arrests, physical abuse and restriction of individuals' activity through various violent methods," the Ministry said.
At the same time, official Tbilisi points to a new wave of persecution of ethnic Georgians and recalls deportation of Georgian citizens in 2006.
"Another campaign of persecution of Georgian nationals shall be considered in the context of this new wave. The statement made by the Head of the RF Federal Migration Service, Konstantin Romodanovskiy, proves the launch of this campaign. Here should be mentioned that Romodanovskiy's statement has been already tagged by Russian media as "declaration of Georgians hunt," Georgian MFA stressed.
According to the Georgian MFA "the cases of ethnic intolerance on part of the Russian government officials have become frequent for the past few years and the cruel murder of Mamuka Kakhishvili (ethnic Georgian, Russian citizen) by the Russian law-enforcers in Samara, on November 10, 2011, is a grievous example of the aforesaid."
Georgian MFA termed as 'comical" Russian Foreign Ministry's 2011 report on the situation in human rights sphere in the USA, EU countries and Georgia.
"Another campaign of persecution of ethnic Georgians and Georgian nationals, especially amidst mass and severe violation of human rights in Russia, makes more obvious the Kremlin's attitude to the human rights," Georgian MFA stressed.
