Filmmaker Maria Sahakyan, who is best known for festival-winning It's Not Me film, will stage Avet Terteryan's Fire Ring in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Terteryan's opera was composed on the basis of Boris Lavrenev's The 41st story and was first staged in Yerevan in 1967.
According to choreographer of the project Ara Asaturyan, the performance will take place in the area of Shushi's Real Collage. Constructed in early XX, the building was serious damaged during the Nagorno-Karabakh war and is listed as a historical monument.
This is not the first time this place hosts an opera: Sept 1 2013 it served as a stage for Andrey Babayev's Artsvaberd.
Following the last year's success, the authors of the project decided to stage one more opera in the venue. According to Asaturyan, the project will involve Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Hover Chamber Choir of Armenia, singers from Yerevan Opera House. The date will also be the same - Sept 1.
