Under the criminal case on the mass disorders investigated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Areg Sadoyan, the son of Arshak Sadoyan, a member of the Public Council, has been arrested.
Suren Iskandaryan, a member of the public observation group that monitors the detention facilities of the Police, told reporters on July 29, Areg Sadoyan was caught in the Republic Square and arrested.
"There are no arguments against Areg, no video footage, just an obscure photography on which one can hardly find Areg," Iskandaryan said.
Arshak Sadoyan, in turn, told journalists the lawyer Vardan Zurnachyan told him his son was arrested for pushing and hanging on a Police shield. "It is simply inadmissible to jail a person for 3-7 years for hanging on a Police shield, the more so as it is not clear if it was he," Sadoyan said adding that a group of high- ranking officials try to increase tension in the country. That group is trying to influence the president to storm the seized building, he said.
"Head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan is one of those dangerous people. He provokes internal bloody clashes using the agency he heads. Mass detentions pursue one goal to bring the relatives of the detainees to the streets and provoke more clashes to get reasons to storm the seized building and settle the issue by force," Sadoyan said.
