Secretary of Prosperous Armenia Party Naira Zohrabyan has appealed to CoE Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks over the Armenian captive in Azerbaijan Hakob Injighulyan.
"In my letter I ask the CoE Commissioner to use his powers to help repatriate Hakobyan or send him to a third country, as his life is in danger in Azerbaijani captivity," Zohrabyan told ArmInfo. She recalled that Azerbaijan as a CoE member undertook commitments under the Geneva Conventions on Prisoners of War but fails to fulfill them. Armenian captives are subjected to inhumane treatment and tortures in Azerbaijan. "This issue must be consistently raised at the international organizations Azerbaijan is a member of," Zohrabyan said.
The parliamentarian said she is waiting for Commissioner Muiznieks's reply already at the PACE Session in April.
To recall, soldier Hakob Injighulyan lost his bearings on the terrain on the night of August 7-8 2013 and fell in Azerbaijan's captivity. All the efforts of the Armenian party to repatriate the solider have been failed so far.
