Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern met on Monday to discuss the tensed situation on the Armenian-Azeri border and the contact line between the Nagorno-Karabakh and Azeri armies.
The press service of Armenia's Defense Ministry reports that Ohanyan and Heffern expressed concern about the growing tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and considered ways to reduce them.
Heffern expressed his condolences to the families of the soldiers killed in the last incidents and urged the parties to reduce the tensions.
As a result of Azeri attacks on July 28-Aug 2 the Azeris lost 25 soldiers, 30 were wounded. The Armenians lost 5 soldiers, 7 were wounded. The US Department of State, Russia's Foreign Ministry, the OSCE CiO and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs have expressed concern about the situation and have called on the parties to comply with the cease-fire regime.
