The European Union closely follows the investigation process on swindle of EU funds, provided for implementation of a grant project, Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski told journalists on May 30.
The investigation of this case does not lie within our jurisdiction. However, we have representative, who presents our interests on this issue in the law enforcement agencies. We have ourselves revealed the fact of swindle through our own investigation. But currently Armenia's law enforcement agencies hold the investigation of the case, the diplomat summarized.
To recall, on March 22, 2016 Tigran Suqiasyan, Rubina Ter-Martirosyan and Gevorg Ghazaryan were detained on suspicion of a EU grant swindle. Preliminary investigation revealed that in 2012 and 2013, Tigran Suqiasyan, Rubina Ter-Martirosyan, and Gevorg Ghazaryan, forged documents and developed a false project "Fundamental Rights and Freedoms the Guarantee of Future" in the name of non- governmental organization "Martuni Students' Council" and under the pretext of carrying out activities in the framework of the project received and swindled grants in particularly large amount provided by the European Union Delegation to Armenia. Preliminary investigation is underway.
