During the Sept 1 action of protest near the Indoor Market in Yerevan, provokers hit an underage girl, the Preparliament civil initiative reports. To recall, the protest action was organized by the initiative "Let's save the monument from the oligarch".
The Preparliament urges the police to stay within the bounds of the law and ensure the activists' security. "Our actions are peaceful and those who resort to provocations have nothing to do with us", the Preparliament says its statement.
The Preparliament also urges the law-enforcers to bring the owner of the Indoor Market to responsibility, force him to compensate for the damage inflicted to the monument and restore its previous exterior and interior. To restore the monument means to dismantle the illegal constructions, to suspend the owner's right to use the monument and to ban his economic activity until the previous appearance is restored.
The initiative stresses that it will be consistent until its demands are fully satisfied.
To recall, despite the vehement public protests, the construction in the area of the Indoor Market is still going on. According to the media reports, the Indoor Market has turned from a historical monument into an ordinary supermarket and will open on September 15. The owner of the Indoor Market is oligarch- parliamentarian Samvel Alexanyan.
