"The UN Security Council has to discuss the attack on the Armenian-inhabited village of Kessab in Syria and give its assessment," the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation says in a statement. Russia considers any attempts to justify terrorists' crimes absolutely unacceptable, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said, Itar-Tass reports.
"The UN Security Council has to discuss the attack on the Armenian-inhabited village of Kessab in Syria and give its assessment," the ministry says, "We condemn extremists' actions in Syria. We believe that the Syrian government and the opposition should join efforts to eradicate terrorism on the Syrian land."
"The world community and human rights organisations have voiced concern over the situation in the Armenian-populated town of Kessab, Syria's north-west. The town was attacked by al-Qaeda-linked extremist groups of Jabhat al Nusra and Ahrar al Sham," the ministry says outlining that the only reason for attacking seven hundred families and forcing them to leave their homes is that they were loyal to the Syrian government.
As for the video on YouTube, the ministry says, even if it is not the Kessab Armenians but the Syrian army soldiers that are viciously killed by rebels on the video, as some sources claim, the crime does not become less vicious from that.
"We resolutely condemn the atrocities of the extremists in Syria. We think, it is as never relevant to implement that tasks set at the G8 Summit in Lough Erne and consolidate efforts of the Government of Syria and the opposition to eradicate terrorism in the Syran land," the ministry says. It is necessary to act immediately. "The UN Security Council has to discuss the attack on the Armenian-inhabited village of Kessab in Syria and give its assessment," the ministry says.
