Gas tariff will be revises in Armenia, said Robert Nazaryan, Head of the Public Services Regulatory Committee (PSRC) at the Armenian Parliament hearings on fulfillment of the budget for 2011, Saturday.
He said that gas price on the boundary has not been determined yet and relevant negotiations are underway. Nevertheless, Nazaryan said the gas tariff will be revised and the Committee is expecting relevant application by ArmRusgasprom Company. The issue will be discussed with public participation.
To recall, in the middle of the year there were reports on possible rise of the Russian gas tariff for Armenia on Oct 1 2012. Thus, mass media reported that 1000 cu m of gas will cost $280 on the border with Armenia. Afterwards, starting Jan 1 2012 this tariff will be increased to $320 instead of the current $180. Earlier, the tariff was to be increased on April 1 2012, but it was left unchanged.
ArmRusgasprom cjsc is the sole importer of gas to Armenia. Gazprom ojsc, Russia, hold the 80% stake in the company, with the remaining 20% belonging to the Government of Armenia.
