Armenian Defense Ministry Spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan cannot say whether one should expect any resumption of armed hostilities on the line of contact of the Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops on May 8-9 (on the day of liberation of Shushi - editor's note).
Hovhannisyan stresses that since the April 5 verbal arrangement on ceasefire, the adversary has demonstrated no unprecedentedly active steps along the line of contact.
"As we have already reported a couple of hours ago, although the ceasefire arrangements have been generally observed along the Line of Contact on May 2, the Azerbaijani side is pulling more forces and military hardware to its positions along the Line of Contact. It is hard to make any forecasts today. It is necessary to be vigilant because the situation may escalate at any moment," he says.
Meanwhile, the NKR President's Spokesman David Babayan thinks that on the threshold of May 9 the adversary will resort to provocations. He recalls that on festive days the Azerbaijani side always takes steps to destabilize the situation. At the same time, Babayan believes that the adversary is unlikely to unleash large-scale military operations.
