The interview of President of the Football Federation of Armenia, member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Rouben Hayrapetyan and the response of the Office of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan demonstrates the beginning of a war between the RPA and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Stepan Safaryan, representative of Heritage Party, said at today's press conference in Yerevan.
To recall, in his interview with Nouvelles d'Armenie, Rouben Hayrapetyan Robert Kocharyan and the Prosperous Armenia Party for organizing the protest actions concerning the death of medical officer Vahe Avetyan. He called the Vahe Avetyan Movement activists Garegin Chugaszyan and Hranush Kharatyan puppies of Robert Kocharyan. Kocharyan's Spokesperson Viktor Soghomonyan expressed his amazement at "such a big quantity of absurdities in one interview". As regards puppies, Robert Kocharyan has only one dog - a Golden Retriever - Simba by name. The key peculiarity of this dog is that it never barks if there is nothing to bark at", Soghomonyan said.
Safaryan thinks that the PAP has found itself on the crossroad of interests of the second and third presidents of Armenia, and the party will display its position by participating in the presidential elections. He also pointed out that the opposition will fail to nominate a single candidate for president, because the Armenian National Congress (ANC) will not support the opposition's candidate, and the PAP will not support the ANC's candidate.
To note, the presidential elections in Armenia will be held in Feb 2013.
