"We are not informed about any agreements related to Karabakh conflict settlement, which Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has mentioned", Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan told journalists after negotiations with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, touching upon Lavrov's statement that all the components of the agreement on Karabakh settlement are on the table and the sides are very close to the settlement.
At the same time he emphasized that during today's meeting with the Russian Prime Minister very important agreements have been reached. "We have signed today a number of very important documents, about which it will be informed in the nearest future", Prime Minister Abrahamyan said.
To recall, at today's joint briefing with his Azerbaijani and Iranian counterparts in Baku Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that almost all components of the Karabakh conflict settlement agreement are on the table. He said that Russia is most of all interested in the settlement of the conflict. He added that sooner resolution of the conflict stems from all parties' interests. Given the explosive situation, all parties should speed up efforts towards political resolution of the conflict, Lavrov said. The Kazan document consists of 14 provisions. It implies determination of the final status of Karabakh, as well as return of the territories surrounding Karabakh to Azerbaijan with the corridor linking Karabakh to Armenia.
Toucing upon lavrov's statement Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tigran Balayan said that the Kazan document proposed to the parties in 2011 is currently on the negotiating table. "Azerbaijan is reluctant to accept it despite the fact that it was agreed with Baku in advance. We have repeatedly spoken about it. During a meeting in Kazan, Ilham Aliyev made 10 new proposals and actually failed the agreement of the conflict resolution principles," Tigran Balayan says.
