Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
Some 2,600 people took part in the framework of the Lets Do It clean-up campaign last Saturday, President of the Young Biologists association Arsen Gasparyan told journalists on Tuesday.
He said that the campaign covered 50 areas all over Armenia and involved representatives of almost 50 NGOs, the Yerevan Municipality, the Environment Protection Ministry and some embassies, with 600 c m of garbage collected as a result.
But there was one "fly in the ointment": a truck appearing near Karmir Blur monument right after that area had been cleaned up and unloading new waste despite the protests of those present. Gasparyan said that they have already urged the Yerevan Municipality and the culture and environment protection ministries to find and punish those guilty.
