Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has told Radio Vatican that Armenia is very grateful to Pope Francis for visiting the country and showing his warm attitude to the Armenian people.
He stresses that Armenian people - as the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion - have felt the warm attitude and respect of the Pope for many years. "This is why during the three-day visit of the Pope to Armenia we have done everything possible to provide an opportunity to as many faithful as possible to talk to the Pope and feel his warm attitude to the Armenian people," the President says.
To note, Pope Francis has been in Armenia since June 24. The motto of his trip is "Visit to the First Christian Country".
