The Council of Field Commanders will meet in the Republic Square on 23 April.
A member of the Council, Artsakh War Veteran Suren Sargsyan told reporters, Tuesday, the Council has been trying to rent a big hall for the meeting for many months already, but the authorities do not allow the Council to meet.
"We have rented hall at different hotels for over ten times, but every time at the last moment they return our funds and do not allow us to hold our meeting. This time, they will not be able to prevent our meeting," Sargsyan said. According to him, over 1000 veterans will gather in the Republic Square on 23 April to expressed their concern over the future of our country, the current heavy social and economic situation and immoral atmosphere in the country, he said.
In this context, the veteran said that the Council disagrees with Hovik Abrahamyan's appointment as prime minister. They think Abrahamyan's appointment aims to prepare the political field for return of the second president Robert Kocharyan to big politics.
"However, the authorities do not expect us to oppose them. From now on, no clans will come to power in Armenia. We will no longer bear injustice," Sargsyan said. According to him, the veterans are going to set free Volodya Avetisyan, who is accused of bribery. "Avetisyan is a political prisoner. They framed up a case against him," Sargsyan said.
