Some U.S.-funded projects in Armenia will be suspended, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills told reporters, Tuesday. The ambassador said he is speaking about cultural projects, and the programs that look to normalize the relations of Armenia with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The diplomat said the projects implemented in the basic field, including those within USAID, such as economic and judicial reform, human rights and democracy, will be continued.
According to Ambassador Mills, the U.S. cuts financing due to the global challenges such as Ebola, conflict in Ukraine and the threat from the Islamic State. The ambassador said it is time to redistribute funds to adequately respond to new challenges and threats.
