Nalbandian: Racism and racial discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance grossly violate human dignity and give rise to tensions within and between societies. That is why the fight against them became one of the main priorities of our chairmanship.
The official authorities of Azerbaijan have proved information that Armenian old man was taken into captivity in Azerbaijan, a representative of the ICRC Yerevan office, Zara Amatuni, told Arminfo correspondent.
"At present, ICRC Baku office has been negotiating to meet the captive as soon as possible", she said.
Mamikon Khojoyan (77), a resident of Tavush Region, was taken into captivity on 28 January. According to some reports, the man lost his way.
It should be noted that the reports of Azerbaijani state agencies differ. According to the Commission on POWs, he is a civilian. However, Azerbaijani defense ministry claims the old man (who was called mentally ill by the villagers) is a "guide of sabotage group".
To note, at present one Armenian service man and an Armenian family are at the territory of Azerbaijan.
