"Under-age children attend meetings of various religious organizations. There is no control and the activity of these organizations is becoming more and more aggressive", - co-chairman of the United Youth League, Daniel Petrosyan, said at today's press-conference.
Together with a group of young people he organized collection of signatures with a purpose to attract state structures to the activity of religious organizations. They demand legislative changes and stricter control.
Chairman of the Rehabilitation Centre of Victims of Destructive Cults, Aleksandr Amaryan, said it is not expedient to make alterations in the functioning legislation. He is for adoption of a new law as the old one does not even have a specific definition of the term "capturing of souls".
"I was staying in the hospital for 3 months, and over that period of time religious organizations disseminated a rumor that Aramyan was bribed. I disprove these rumors and say that our center will go on functioning", - Aramyan said.
He also added that there are about 350 000 chapel folk in Armenia, 120 000 of which are members of destructive sects.
