Tigran Karapetyan congratulates Raffi Hovannisian

During today's press-conference the leader of the People's Party Tigran Karapetyan  congratulated the leader of the opposition movement "Barevolution" (greetings revolution), Raffi Hovannisian, on gaining a victory at the presidential election in Armenia on 18 February.

He also added that this victory is due to the fact that the campaign slogan of the current authorities "Toward a Secure Armenia" does not meet reality.  Moreover, he said that a great part of the population of the country hate the authorities, and such an attitude would be demonstrated sooner or later. "You know my attitude to Raffi Hovannisian, however I congratulate him," Tigran Karapetyan said. He does not think that hunger strike is an effective way of fight.

Karapetyan did not rule out that during the Yerevan mayor election the authorities will try to resolve the problem through Hovannisian, for the Heritage party to gather more votes than Prosperous Armenia Party. "If Hovannisian was a threat to the president, in that case the story with Artur Bagdasaryan would be repeated and he would be offered a position and would not refuse it. Raffi Hovannisian is a positive personage, but the West is behind him", - Karapetyan said.
