ICRC Representatives visit arrested Azerbaijani saboteurs

Representatives of the ICRC Mission in Stepanakert have visited the arrested Azerbaijani saboteurs Shakhraz Gulyev and Dilham Askerov. Zara Amatuni, the Program Manager for Communications, the ICRC Yerevan Office, told ArmInfo the meeting took place on 11 August on a point of order. Amatuni said no letters were exchanged.

To recall, last month the enemy made several sabotage attacks on the Armenian and Karabakh positions (mainly in the area of Karvachar). The NKR Defense Army revealed and prevented the sabotage attempts.  Part of the saboteurs were arrested, others were liquidated.

In the course of the operation to neutralize the Azerbaijani sabotage group that penetrated into the territory of Karvachar, the Armenian party suffered losses: Armenian officer Sargis Abrahamyan (1972) was killed, a young woman Karina Davtyan (1977) was wounded. A 17-year-old Smbat Tsakanyan was kidnapped and killed. NKR Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a criminal case against Azerbaijani saboteurs Gyulin Shakhbaz Jalaloglu (1968) and Dilham Gardashkhan (1960) for penetrating into the state border and murdering Smbat Tsakanyan.
