Residents of some buildings in Amiryan Street in Yerevan gathered in front of the president's residence on 26 March demanding their houses back.
Talking to ArmInfo's correspondent they said that in 2004 the area of their houses was recognized an area of alienation and the owners of 23 houses were promised apartments in a newly built residential building.
However, no apartments have been provided to the residents yet. One of the residents, Vachagan Tadevosyan, claims that the apartments they were provided with in Amiryan Street lack elementary conveniences. There are neither windows, nor doors there. There is no elevator, but developers even demand additional payment, Tadevosyan complained.
According to him, part of the residents has already left the country. "Municipality guaranteed that our apartments will be return to us. Later, all the responsibilities were laid on the Finance Ministry. The situation is extremely uncertain now," he said.
The residents handed over a letter to President Serzh Sargsyan demanding a solution to their housing problems.
