The new Government's program 2012-2017 is ambitious but realistic. Now it is for the Parliament to adopt the necessary legislative incentives, Deputy Leader of Orinats Yerkir party Hovhannes Margaryan told journalists on Tuesday.
He believes that the Government is able to gradually redouble the 32,500 AMD ($80) minimum wage.
"It will continue compensating for the Soviet-time deposits. Since 2006 it has paid the compensation to 40,000 of 60,000 Armenia-based holders," Margaryan said.
He believes that the Government's birth benefit has stimulated childbirth in the country, with 45,000-50,000 births registered a year in 2005-2006 against 33,000 in 2001. "The new program says that for a third child a family should be granted 1,000,000 AMD instead of 430,000 AMD for the moment, while for a fourth child it should get as much as 1,500,000 AMD," Margaryan said.
He said that of 72bln AMD earmarked for the program to restore the Spitak Earthquake Zone 60bln AMD has already been spent, with 5,000 out of 6,800 families provided with housing. In 2012 the Government will allocate 2.9bln AMD for this purpose.
Margaryan also pointed out a number of social, educational, health care and business projects envisaged by the Government's program.
