Tension on the line of contact of the Karabakh- Azerbaijani armed forces may neutralize the OSCE Misnk Group's efforts towards peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, James Warlick, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair of USA, said in an interview with ArmNews TV Channel in Yerevan, ovenright.
He urged the parties to the conflict to refrain from violence and observe the ceasefire. Hopefully, he said, the conflicting parties will avoid increasing tension on the line of contact. Otherwise it may impede the peace process. The U.S. co-chair noticed that tension on the line of contact has been growing lately.
According to Warlick, after their meeting in Vienna, Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan and ilham Aliyev, were sure that they are able to find a peaceful solution to the conflict. Warlick said discussions on the topic will be continued, as the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan deserve peaceful resolution of the conflict and establishment of durable peace. He said that issues of utmost importance and very complicated issues are discussed in the course of the negotiations, as the parties seek common ground and a solution that would meet the interests of both the parties. "We don't want to see a winner or a defeated party in these negotiations," James Warlick said and reiterated that the United States supports the peaceful efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The co-chairs arrived in Yerevan on 5 February and had a meeting with Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and President Serzh Sargsyan.
