In Armenia there are just 27,578 teacher vacancies and as many as 40,000 working teachers, Armenia's Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan says in Facebook.
"Despite this fact, we are still able to avoid large-scale dismissals. The problem here is that our teachers are not fully loaded with work, so, they are not paid as much as they should according to the budget. So, we are facing a dilemma: either to dismiss or to pay low wages. Schools are free to make this choice for themselves, but when deciding, they must keep in mind the quality of education," Ashotyan said.
This year the Armenian Government is planning to budget 122.170bln AMD for education (14bln AMD more than last year).
