Vth Country Conference of Russian compatriots in Armenia

The Vth Country Conference of Russian compatriots "Problems of Russian compatriots in Armenia and relevant problems of cooperation and consolidation" was held in Dilijan town of Armenia on 23-24 June.
The conference was held by the Coordination Council of Public Organizations of Russian Compatriots (CCPORC) of the Republic of Armenia under the support of Rossotrudnichestvo Representation and Russian Embassy in Armenia. The total of 120 delegates from 20 regional departments, 15 public organization of Russian compatriots took part in the conference.
Chairwoman of the CCPORC, Alina Agabekyan, said that the key purpose of the conference is to sum up the results of the work implemented for the last year and determine future tasks.
Russia's Ambassador to Armenia, Vyacheslav Kovalenko, highly appreciated the activity of public organizations of Russian compatriots and said that over the reported period the CCPORC enhanced its positions like a convincing public force in civilian sector of Armenia. He also added that more than 100 events were held over the past year. He especially emphasized effective activity of the Association of Students of Russian Universities in Armenia, the Russian-Armenian Youth Unity, the Russian-Armenian Alliance of Youth and "Russia's Friends" newspaper.
When welcoming participants in the conference adviser of the Russian Embassy, Viktor Krivopuskov, read the welcoming message of Vladimir Nikitin, the first deputy chairman of the CIS Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma. Krivopuskov thanked the leaders and activists of all public organizations of Russian compatriots for their efforts directed to consolidation of the life and activity of Russian compatriots, supporting of positive image of Russia and propagating its foreign political course.
The participants in the conference touched on the problems of activation of the work of Russian compatriots for upgrading and development of the Russian-Armenian relations, cooperation with public organizations of Armenia, extension of contacts on the inter-regional, inter-municipal and inter-community level, for supporting development of the companies of small and medium-sized business, the innovation sphere and for supporting and development of the Russian language.
The conference adopted a resolution to support the conception of the Federal Programme for work with compatriots in abroad for 2012-2014.
