Representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia like all the reasonable citizens of Armenia condemn latest burning of the cars belonging to members of the Pre-Parliament NGO and beating of one of the NGO representatives, Hovhanness Sahakyan, Head of the Parliament Committee for State and Legal Affairs, told ArmInfo.
"I condemn the given incidents and demand the law-enforcement to take immediate measures to expose and punish the provocateurs," Sahakyan said.
As for the Pre-Parliament's statement suggesting that the incidents were organized by representatives of the regime as the NGO demands a change of the regime, Sahakyan said: "Freedom of speech is one of the most important achievements of our independence and I urge everyone not to cast doubt on that achievement for political dividends," Sahakyan said, "The Republican Party has never settle issues by such methods and provocations. Furthermore, I don't understand the motives of such radical approach to the members of the Pre-Parliament who rally in a civilized and legal way," Sahakyan said.
To recall, cars of four members of the Pre-Parliament were burnt on Thursday, and one of the NGO's representatives was beaten up. The NGO blames the ruling regime for the incident. Some public organizations have launched fund raising campaign to help those who suffered in the incident.
