Tbilisi. At the end of last week, the Georgian Foreign
Minister Maia Panjikidze attended the international conference "NATO's
Open Door: Ten years after the ''big bang'', dedicated to the 10th anniversary
of NATO enlargement.
The Georgian Foreign Minister addressed
the participants of the conference in
Vilnius and focused on the Alliance's enlargement and the Open Door policy. She
emphasized the importance of Georgia's integration into NATO in terms of
strengthening global Euro-Atlantic security.
According to the Foreign Ministry's
statement, the Conference was attended by the NATO Deputy Secretary General,
Alexander Vershbow, Foreign and Defence ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and
Estonia as well as of NATO aspirant countries (Georgia, Montenegro, the former
Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Bosnia- Herzegovina). NATO enlargement
prospects, issues of regional security
as well as maintenance of stability in Europe within its borders were in the
focus at the conference.
