Armenian President: Armenia will not advance new initiatives for improving its relations with Turkey until the latter ratifies Armenian- Turkish protocols

 Armenia will not advance new initiatives for improving its relations with Turkey until the latter ratifies the Armenian-Turkish protocols signed in 2009, presidential candidate, current President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said during his first meeting with voters.

He said that everything has its time, so, it will not be strange if Armenia withdraws its signatures from the protocols unless they are ratified in the near future. "But should there be a necessity, the negotiations will be continued," the President said.

He added that during the signing of the protocols, the Armenian public felt enmity against the authorities, however, now everybody has made sure that these protocols are unprofitable first and foremost for Turkey.  As a result, these documents are still frozen.  Sargsyan added that Turkey stated that it had repeatedly suggested negotiating, but Armenia refused the negotiations at all levels.
