RPA member: Prosperous Armenia conducts its own policy and it should be welcomed

The fact that the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has supported the candidacy of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) member Samvel Balasanyan during the mayoral elections in Gyumri demonstrates no political cooperation between the two parties, Galoust Sahakyan, Head of the RPA Parliamentary Faction, told ArmInfo.  "We just found it reasonable to support Balasanyan, not his party", he said.

As regards the "alternative" political course of the PAP, Sahakyan said that very often the society runs to extremes and thinks that there should only be authorities and opposition. The society does not perceive the third force. "This position is mistaken. Today the PAP is a new factor in the politics. I appreciate the fact that the people want to conduct their own political course, which is different from that of the authorities or the opposition. They want to be free in their actions and to solve their problems all by themselves. It's time to form a new political model", he said.  

When commenting upon the general situation around yesterday's local elections in various communities of the country, Sahakyan said that the ruling party is satisfied with the election results. "Our political team attaches serious importance to the local elections, as the elections are a serious factor in settlement of socio- economic problems of the country in general", he said.
