Tbilisi Court Fines Ivanishvili Twice a Day

Tbilisi. On Monday, June 11, Tbilisi City Court ruled in favor of the Chamber of Control of Georgia in the administrative case of service of political coalition "Georgian Dream" by companies "Burji" and Elite Burji" and fined leader of the coalition Bidzina Ivanishvili for GEL22,4 mln (approx. $13,6 mln).
On June 7, the Chamber of Control of Georgia, accused Bidzina Ivanishvili of financing with political goals, illegal schemes for supporting activity of the coalition "Georgian Dream", with the assistance of companies, he owned. Namely, the question was about preferential service of the coalition by cars of companies "Burji", "Elite Burji".
The department submitted evidences to the court on the facts of illegal service by these companies of the political coalition with electoral and political aims.
Some hours earlier, Tbilisi City Court satisfied the suit of the Chamber of Control concerning illegal distribution of satellite aerials among the population by Global ‘onsulting Group company and ruled to fine the billionaire for GEL126 mln (approx. $77,5 mln).
Ivanishvili's lawyers will be able to appeal against the Tbilisi City Court's rule within 48 hours.
