At today's meeting in Armenian Parliament, opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan recalled the accusations Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan made against businessman-parliamentarian Gagik Tsarukyan several months ago during the session of the Executive Body of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Pashinyan, in particular, recalled that the President accused Tsarukyan of financial fraud and tax evasion, and instructed the authorized bodies to tackle these issues. Pashinyan said that the time envisaged by the current legislation for conducting financial inspection at Tsarukyan's enterprises has already expired but the authorized bodies have not made any statements so far.
The MP also recalled that the President accused Tsarukyan of creating and protecting various criminal mechanisms. But the law-enforcement agencies have not made any statements either.
In response, Head of the Government Staff David Harutyunyan said that the Finance Ministry is still inspecting Tsarukyan's enterprises. As soon as the inspections are over, the relevant information will be made public.
"As regards your question addressed to the law-enforcers, I think it is for the relevant structures to answer this question. But I can assure you that if Tsarukyan's guilt were proved, a criminal case would be instituted," said Harutyunyan.
