Special Investigative Service of Armenia has initiated a criminal case on Article 164.3 and Article 309.2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia taking as a basis the reports of journalists Sargis and Ani Gevorgyans.
The SIS reports Gevorgyans complain of the police violence. The journalists told the SIS that they visited the Central Police Office on 23 June 2014 after learning that the activists of a protest action against rising electricity rate were detained by the police and taken to the above Police Office. The journalists accuse the police for brutality and demand indictment for their bodily harms.
Ani Gevorgyan also blames the police for impeding her professional activity. Investigation is underway.
