Russia's ambassador: Russian-Armenian scientific and tourist expedition will make it possible to open unknown pages of Armenia to the Russian society

The joint Russian-Armenian scientific and tourist expedition has attracted public attention and made it possible to raise numerous issues which interest the society of both countries, Russia's Ambassador to Armenia, Vyacheslav Kovalenko, said at today's press-conference in Yerevan.

"We need communication very much, and this expedition will make it possible to open unknown pages of Armenia to the Russian society and attract a new flow of tourists to the republic. Armenia has got many historical monuments of early christianity, and the given expedition is a lucky beginning, that will allow to link two fraternal peoples", - the ambassador said.  

For his part, the leader of Rossotrudnichestvo representation in Armenia, Viktor Krivopuskov, added this expedition will make it possible to standardize and format existing values and to present them to people to be able to assess property of Armenia.

"Over the next year, jointly with Russian International Academy of Tourism and Armenian Tourism Institute we shall try to start a pilot project on the youth tourism development on the basis of inter-regional cooperation between Armenia and Russia. The Vayots Dzor region, full of historical monuments, will be the first direction on this way", - Krivopuskov said.

The scientific and tourist expedition, that lasted for 10 days, ended on 9 October in Armenia.
