Turkey will try to make up a format for its participation in the events to be organized by Armenia to commemorate the 100th year of the Armenian Genocide, Armenian political expert Karen Bekaryan told journalists on Friday.
He said that the idea to celebrate the centennial of the Gallipoli Victory on the same day was not very effective as it drew even more attention to the Armenian Genocide. "For some countries Turkey's cynicism was simply unacceptable," the expert said.
Armenian historian Ruben Safrasyan said that the all-Armenian declaration adopted on Thursday is the first document reflecting the position of all Armenians worldwide. "It has shown that Turkey's efforts to drive a hedge between Armenia and Diaspora have failed," Safrastyan said.
He hopes that the world community will be wise enough and will prefer attending the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide.
The Turkish President has invited 102 foreign leaders, including Serzh Sargsyan, to attend the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Gallipoli. Turkey is planning to celebrate this event on the same day when the Armenian people will be commemorating the 100th year of the Armenian Genocide.
Prince Charles and Azeri President Ilham Aliyev are planning to attend the Turkish event, while French President Francois Hollande and the Pope will come to Armenia.
