I don't think that any NGO in Armenia can drive a wedge between Russia and Armenia, Spokesman of Armenia's Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan said on Wednesday, when asked to comment on the statements made by Ambassador of Russia in Armenia Ivan Volynkin earlier in the day.
He said that Armenian-Russian relations are based on centuries-old friendship and are time-tested. "Besides, all of our NGOs are registered and act according to the law," Balayan said.
In an interview to Noyev Kovcheg newspaper, Volynkin said that those Armenian NGOs that were trying to drive a wedge between Russia and Armenia had to be neutralized. "It is obvious that those acting against Russian-Armenian friendship do not wish good to either Russia or Armenia," he said.
