Archeologists have discovered a throne room in the course of excavations near the medieval fortress of Dashtadem (Aragatsotn province).
Pavel Avetisyan, Head of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, has told ArmInfo that such a construction in that district was very unexpected for the archeologists.
Avetisyan says that there are very few medieval palaces excavated in the territory of present-day Armenia. So, the throne room in Dashtadem may join the list of the most interesting archeological discoveries of the year.
By preliminary estimations, the Dashtadem throne room dates back to XI-XII or XII-XIII centuries.
