Armenian parliamentarian, former foreign minister of Armenia, leader of the Unity Party Vartan Oskanuian sees the solution to the current situation in Yerevan in political field only.
"I felt that the moment is critical and I must be here," Oskanian told reporters and citizens who have gathered in Khorenatsi Street where the seized Police Station is located. He assured everyone that he has a plan to resolve the situation, but did not provide any details. At the same time, the politician does not call the situation as standoff. He urges approaching the issue beyond personal and political interests. "The solution must be in the political field, as the action was political with legal consequences," Oskanian said urging concessions on both sides.
As for the need for the talks of the authorities and the armed group, the former minister said: "If the leadership of the country negotiates with Turkey that annihilated 1.5 million of Armenians, does not refuse to negotiate with Azerbaijan that beheaded Armenian boys, it is ought to negotiate with the men that fought for liberation of Karabakh sacrificing their lives."
