Cutaneous form of anthrax (splenic fever) was registered in Armenia. The patients are two, an Armenian and a citizen of Georgia, the Health Ministry reports.
The source reports that on March 7 the two persons slaughtered cattle in a Georgian village of Malaya Gondura and returned to Armenia on March 15. They applied to medical aid already on the 3rd day after their return. The diagnosis was the cutaneous form of anthrax, with positive dynamics.
To recall, in October 2012 several cases of splenic fever were registered among cattle in Gegharkunik region, Armenia. 65 people were hospitalized with a suspension on splenic fever, but only 10 cases were confirmed. Later on December 26 the earlier announced quarantine was cancelled. In total 12 animals died of splenic fever in Armenia.
