Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The opposition forces of Armenia will not be able to unite and nominate a single candidate for president, as they have got too many ambitions and pretensions to each other, the leader of Democratic Party of Armenia, Aram Sargsyan, said at today's press-conference.
"There is no relevant candidate at present, which could unite all the entire opposition field. There are many talks about the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. However, I doubt he will manage to become a single candidate", - he said. He also added that he does not trust in predictions of
sociologists about Gagik Tsarukyan's nomination as a single opposition candidate, as Tsarukyan's party has been conducting a dual policy, and it is hard to take him as an oppositionist. "A man that made a fortune, can't be a true oppositionist", - the politician said.
He also added that the Armenian society needs a new candidate for president which will have nothing in common with the present and past authorities. He said that the forthcoming presidential election in Armenia will become a regular show, in which he is not going to take part.
