Armenian Defence Ministry: Only thanks to successful actions by the Armenian Armed Forces, ordinary citizens do not feel the war

Thousands of patriots ready to defend the borders of the country, have applied to the Defence Ministry, but the Ministry says there is not such a necessity, as the armed forces of the republic fully meet the challenges, press-secretary of Armenia's Defence Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, said.

He also emphasized that the war at the Karabakh conflict zone has not ended. "And only thanks to successful actions by the Armenian Armed Forces, ordinary citizens do not feel the war at "home" or in the yard. Not all the actions of the army are always easily noticed or perceived ", - he said.

To recall, the situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is being fully controlled by the Armed Forces of Armenia, press-secretary of Defence Ministry, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, wrote earlier at his Facebook page. At the same time, he called on all those who are ready to defend our borders, to apply to Armenia's Defence Ministry.

Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan during today's meeting with Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, called on him to take effective  measures, within his capacity, to reduce the tension on the Line of Contact, and reduce escalation at the line of contact between the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Minister said that in the created situation, the ongoing escalation of the situation at the border is fraught with grave consequences for the Azerbaijan party.

For his part, Kasprzyk expressed his concerns and promised to take measures to de-escalate the current situation on the Line of Contact.

To recall, two Armenian soldiers were killed by Azerbaijani snipers on Thursday on Armenia-Azerbaijan border in Ararat-Nakhchivan section. The Defense Ministry said Andranik Yegoyan (1988) and Boris Gasparyan (1992) were killed. According to the non-official data, the number of the killed soldiers reached five. Personal representative of the OSCE chairman-in-office, Andrzej Kasprzyk, was invited to Armenia's Defence Ministry because of the incident.

To note, ArmInfo received a signal yesterday from Eraskh village that residents of the border villages were being evacuated. But the information was not proved in Armenia's Defence Ministry and in Erashk village administration.
