The Armenian authorities are responsible for the assassination attempt on Paruyr Hayrikyan, says a statement by the campaign headquarters of presidential candidate, the leader of Azatutyun Party Hrant Bagratyan.
"You have created an atmosphere of terror in the country. You have mobilized all of your administrative resources, you control the mass media and are spreading misinformation. You must be doing it for fear that your candidate will not secure enough votes for a run-off. But don't hurry to turn your end into the end of the country. You can still save yourselves if you quickly find the criminals and eradicate the atmosphere of terror in the country," says the statement in its address to the Armenian authorities.
The leader of National Self-Determination Union, presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan was shot in the shoulder Wednesday night and taken to hospital. The police are investigating the case.
