Armenian churches worldwide, except in Turkey, will ring bells in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims on April 23, an Istanbul based Agos Daily writes.
The event is timed to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
According to the source, Catholicos of All Armenians His Holiness Karekin II charged all the Armenian churches to serve a liturgy on April 23. However, the Armenian Apostolic Church Patriarchy in Constantinople will not join the initiative. Vicar of Constantinople H.E. Archbishop Aram Ateshian said an event is scheduled for April 24, but the bells will not ring on April 23.
Meanwhile, on April 22, H.E. Archbishop Aram Ateshian will serve a liturgy for the Armenian soldiers killed in the Gallipoli Battle.
