We, having wonderful relations with Palestine, certainly support Palestinian people's right to self-determination. It would not be right to stand for the right of people for self-determination in one particular case and reject it in another because of relations with Israel, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said in an interview to Arab TV channel "Al Mayadeen".
"We maintain our relations with Syria and will continue doing that no matter who will hold the power in that country. Despite mass outflow of Armenians from Syria there are still several thousands of our compatriots living there. Our historical heritage is also very important for us. That is why I wish peace and calmness to Syria in a shortest possible period, I wish Syrians to have an opportunity to independently determine their future", he noted.
Sargsyan stressed very good relations established with a whole number of Arab countries based on centuries long friendship and recalled that the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire made the Armenians to seek shelter in a number of the Middle East countries. They were given asylum with good opportunities for their own development in these countries and they have successfully taken these opportunities and became an additional circle linking the countries of their current stay with Armenia. Armenia along with the Arab countries is interested in development of these relations and will consistently develop them.
"Armenia expects constant development of trade and economic relations with Arab countries. We are quite interested in the investment opportunities of Arab countries. Our country undoubtedly stands for religious solidarity and we expect the same display of solidarity from Arabian brothers and sisters", the president summarized.
