Swiss Ambassador to Armenia Lukas Gasser: Switzerland will try to contribute to a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict without questioning the established formats such as the OSCE Minsk process
The Police detained several activists, protesting in front of the Yerevan Mayor's Office. The activists were attempting to enter the building, to attend the session of the Yerevan Council of Elders that kicked off on 10 September.
They demanded dismissal of Municipality Transport Department Chief Henrik Navasardyan and Yerevan Trans Company Director Misak Hambardzumyan. The police have closed the municipality entrance and do not permit the activists to climb the stairs. As a result, 10 activists were detained, including Ruzanna Grigoryan, Sonya Msryan, Vahagn Minasyan, Suren Sagakyan, Karen Harutyuanyan and Gohar Saroyan.
The activists stated that the police actions are unlawful, since the law enforcement officers have taken many of the activists to the police station for just sitting on the steps.
