Rostelecom has awarded prizes to the winners of the rapid chess tournament held at the Children's Specialized Chess School in Vanadzor. The company's press release says that the winners of the first, second and third places have received mobile telephones.
The classes at the School are conducted by the highly-skilled FIDE coaches and the pupils take part in the local and international tournaments. Very often the tournaments are held on-line. Since November 2013, Rostelecom has been providing the School with high-speed internet for the pupils to participate in on-line tournaments. Rostelecom implements numerous youth projects aimed at training new generation specialists.
To recall, Rostelecom OJSC launched retail sales of telecommunication services in Armenia in late 2012 via its Armenian subsidiary GNC-ALFA. The services are provided under the Rostelecom brand. The company offers a wide range of services to a majority of Armenian providers, commercial banks and government agencies. GNC-ALFA provides Internet, fixed telephony and IP television services. Its fiber network covers almost 80% of Armenia's territory and is connected with Iran and Georgia.
