Political expert: Reports that the Azeri Parliament might adopt a law "On Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan" were just an attempt to see the reaction of the Azeri society, Armenia and the world community
Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The ICES observers will monitor the Feb 18 presidential election in eleven groups in ten cities, ICES expert Nikolai Meinert told journalists on Saturday.
He said that each group will have to visit almost twelve polling stations.
According to Meinert, the election campaign in Armenia was interesting and even a big strange. He said that the banners installed all over the country for the candidates' posters were mostly empty, with only Serzh Sargsyan's posters seen everywhere.
As regards the mass media, they, according to Meinert, gave equal coverage to the candidates.
"It was strange to see no debates on TV. It was a negative factor but it will hardly affect the results of our monitoring. All in all, the campaign was rather calm - even despite the assassination attempt on one of the candidates," Meinert said.
