Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The representatives of the Shirak Office of the Human Rights Defender visited the Gyumri-based office of Gala TV company and met with its director Vahan Khachatryan.
Earlier the Human Rights Defender's Office expressed its concern over the fact that on the election day, Feb 18, the official website of Gala had operating troubles. Vahan Khachatryan said that he is not going to apply to the Ombudsman, as he does not trust the Police and doubts that the persons disturbing Gala's activity will be punished.
At the moment the Ombudsman's Administration is summing up and analyzing 253 signals concerning the presidential election. It is pointed out that the Ombudsman is going to thoroughly study the signals received and to inform the public of the real picture of the election. The Ombudsman is ready to cooperate with all the state and public structures, as well as with private individuals. The Human Rights Defender's Office expresses hope that due to the active and
impartial work of the Police, Gala's confidence in the police will be restored.
