Israel Maintains Embargo for Weapon Delivery to Georgia - Diplomat

Tbilisi. Israel maintains embargo for weapon delivery to Georgia and hopes that RF will be also very attentively to Israeli interests in the process of planning military-technical cooperation with the third countries, director of the Euro- Asian Department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry,Yaakov Livne said, RIA Novisti agency reports.

Israeli companies suspended export of armament to Georgia and rendering it consultation services some time before the war between Russia and Georgia in August 2008, is said in the statement.       

"Israel suspended armament delivery to Georgia, including on the Russian side's request. We have been adhering to this line. We hope and expect the analogous decision in Moscow on Israeli's requests", the agency's interlocutor said.

In his speech at the video bridge Moscow-Jerusalem, organized by RIA Novosti, the diplomat let know that Israel was concerned over continued deliveries of Russian weapon to Syria due to the fact it was unknown whom it was delivered to.

"In our opinion, at the present time all countries, including Russia, should not continue weapon delivery to Syrian regime", Livne stressed.
